OK, with 2 wrong answers, I am asking for help from this vast collective of
knowledge.
King, witch, Lord,
One who would sow great discord.
Though fearful he was, some would sing
that all his power came from his ring.
Silly me, the obvious answer seems Murazor. Nope. So I thought, hmm, could
it simply be Witch King. No it could not. So, anybody have the correct
answer....suggestions are great, but a confirmed correct answer is even
better.

this one came up recently, lots of suggestions for different names for
Murazor, suggest you check the archive for this list (no idea how you
get there though....)
anyone tried Er-Murazor?

Try Sauron, he was considered a witch, created the One Ring, and was
a lord in Far Harad during the Second age before the Numenor sailed
from their homeland to call challenge to him.

If you are convinced it is the Witch King, consider:
1. The Black Captain (which is how he is described in
the scene where Eowyn delivered her coup de grace).
2. At the Battle of the Pelennor Fields Murazor is
referred to variously as RingWraith (as when Eowyn
says: "I think this is a fever dream," she said
and let her shield fall. "For I have already fought
the RingWraith..." Of course, all of the lairi
(Naz) are called RingWraith, so who knows?
3. Of course, Eowyn also called him Dwimmerlaik.
4. lairi is the elven name for the the Nazgul and
was used to refer to Murazor once or twice (but in
the collective)
5. Maybe his formal title? Witch-King of Angmar or
the Lord of the Nazgl?
Odd wording in the riddle. Actually brings to mind
the discord of Melkor in the Song of the Ainur (and,
of
course, Melkor is Morgoth, who has a "ring.") Ah
well.
