Kinstrife use JOverseer

Hi Guys and Gals,

Some of you are playing Kinstrife for the first time and have Champions with 3 orders.

Please note that JOverseer is now the preferred order entry program to use, with its mapping abilities, capability to pull in your teamates orders, it is by far the superior program. The rule book will be changed to reflect this (was not true at the time of writing).

We are continually working on JOverseer to improve it.

So, feel free to use JOverseer to submit orders for Kinstrife games.

Who is doing the programming…?

Hi, we have a programmer that works on things for ME but of course
there is always too much for him to do.

Were you thinking of offering to help Brad?

PM me if so!

Alas, I’m not a programmer, but worked very closely with Marios S the creator of the program to get it to this point. He has left the game, it would appear.

My question was related to the claim “We are continually working on JOverseer to improve it” but your response seems to mean “Nobody has actually touched the application”

I’m playing with some players who have experienced a few bugs recently related to BOFA. If this module is to be used as a “1st impression” for MEGames and the “preferred” program, I would consider prioritizing your programming resource to work with those players to clean up their issues.

Brad

Hi Brad,

Alas, I'm not a programmer, but worked very closely with Marios S the
creator of the program to get it to this point. He has left the game,
it would appear.

He still replies to communications but I believe he is not playing at
present. Maybe YOU could recruit him back into playing (wink wink)?
Marios might be interested in checking out kin-strife? Thanks for your
good work with him by the way!

My question was related to the claim "We are continually working on
JOverseer to improve it" but your response seems to mean "Nobody has
actually touched the application"

Not sure how my responses imply that, but its certainly not the case.

I'm playing with some players who have experienced a few bugs recently
related to BOFA. If this module is to be used as a "1st impression"
for MEGames and the "preferred" program, I would consider prioritizing
your programming resource to work with those players to clean up their

This is a good point Brad and funnily enough it is one of the things
that we have prioritised already!
What version of JOverseer are you currently using? We are now on version
1.10 and its has been primarily tweaked to make BOFA games run smoothly.

I attach the latest Joverseer.jar file to this e-mail. Not sure if it
will post through the list will also upload it to the files section.

Rename the Joverseer.jar file in your program directory to something
like JOverseerold.jar just so you have it and paste this new one in.
Please pass onto the players you mention. I will put a specific link on
the ME website for it as well.

I have not pushed this as we are working on fixing a lot of features,
specifically getting the order checker to work with Kinstrife games (3
order characters messes with it I think). Once that is done we would be
having a big PR push for people to upgrade to 1.10 or 1.11.

We have spotted lots of little things to fix/improve ourselves but do
give us feed back anything you have spotted, we may not have seen them
(a reasonable chunk of minor gui fixes will be included in v1.11)

We have also responded to players having bugs in unique circumstances
stopping them writing orders, getting them a beta version of JOverseer
to them to write their turn.

So we are trying to be very proactive on improving JOverseer. We are
also working on trying to make installs and updates smoother. So watch
this space!

Finally got around to downloading this version - odd, I had an earlier version…and i thought I was special…!

Meanwhile, what prompted me was I have a character (one of the starting 8) that is on an enemy pop with an army and was attempting to issue 215 and 230. Looking through my orders, I see 2x215. Odd, so I click on one of them, either in the Orders pane where I can manually enter the order and parameter, or in Order Editor. And I update one of those 2 215’s to 230. Poof…both turn to 230. Try again, go back and forth…

Download the newer version from mepbmlist files section, reload game, do it all over again.

Relooking through other orders, all seem fine. What’s with this ONE guy…??

Very wierd… I did send the relevant files to Marios also, hope he get’s back to me, haven’t heard from him in a while…

If there are newer versions (like 1.10…), you might consider advertising such on the forum also.

Cheers,

Brad

Hi Brad,
I don’t think that Marios is doing any coding/support anymore.

What you need to do is give me your game.jov (PM me) file and point

us at the sepcific character that is having this double order
problem.

I can then get our programmer to look at it and see if we can

replicate your error.
If its a general error in JOvseer and and not some bad data import,
we can put it on a fix list.

We are working on auto-update features for JOvseer that will

hopefully keep people up to speed as we bring out improved versions.

All takes time!
