Last Alliance

I would play Last Alliance again, too. I was the Dog Lord in the original. The DS did have some organizational problems. We had two players drop, Oystein picked up one and was playing two positions and someone else on the team picked up the other.

By games end we had the Ring of Curufin and had located the Ring of Impersonation, but we dropped before getting them into play. I tried (not hard enough) getting the team to continue. The biggest problem was not being able to afford to support all of the armies we needed. We had numerous MT's and Towns that were not recruiting because of the economy.

Another problem we had, Oystein has already alluded to it, is army movement. After I got my but kicked out of Morannon, it took three turns to get an army from my new capital (3624) to Morannon. I don't think we had any armies with food, and in my opinion the DS armies should not be penalised for not having food. If Sauron was behind the orc do you think they would whine about not having food???

Anyway, it was a good scenario and I would play again.

I played the Sinda in the Last Alliance scenario and had the pleasure
of running around with Ring o Wind.

I was a bit sad that the DS dropped, because I don't think our victory
was that close - we didn't have anyone that could challenge Sauron and
with all the agents it would have been difficult to take Barad Dur by
turn 26 - though I do think we would have succeeded; but we have no
way of knowing...

I think the DS should be very aware of the victory conditions, as they
certainly makes up for some of the FP superiority.

Finally I'd also like to praise Marc Pinsonneault for doing great work
on coordinating for our team.

Thanks! The really fun part of ME PBM for me is that it really does
put the emphasis on having a good team. No one player is good enough
to win it by themselves, and most teams can get by with one or two
people who don't pull their weight. We pulled together to get dorwin
and the south kingdom out of their initial bad positions, and we
executed some complex military actions involving many nations. This
was a strong team effort.

cheers,

Marc

RD: I agree the DS armies in Mordor should not be handicapped by lack of
food. Unfortunately that's the way the game mechanics work. Tolkien
mentions "vast slave-fields of Nurn" implying that those fields supplied
food for the Mordor armies. What if the DS were given a chain of
food-producing camps/villages along the shore hexes of Nurn? That might
help even if it's not a complete solution. Or perhaps give some of the DS
nations the SNA to conjure food, although this would mean sacrificing one of
the other SNAs?

Richard.
