Lord of the Rings

Hi,

Nothing to do with Middle Earth PBM, but a question which has been bugging
me...

Does anyone know what the difference is (aside from about 5. in cost, that
is) between the "Extended" 4 dvd box set of the Fellowship of the Rings
coming out in November in the UK, and the "Limited Edition" 4 dvd box set of
the Fellowship of the Rings coming out in November in the UK? Both have the
extra footage, and more extras than you can shake Gandalf's stick at, but
aside from the price difference, and the fact that one calls itself Limited,
I can't see any actual difference between the two.

Now I might be fool enough to buy the version in August and one of the two
extra-footage box sets in November, but not the version in August and both
of the box sets in November, and want to know which to hand over my cash
for!

Cheers,

John

I think the difference is that the first one has all the extra scenes
seperately, whilst the November edition has them integrated into the film -
i.e it's a directors cut.

Don't quote me, but that's my understanding.

Cheers

I believe the first release is just the movie and some behind the
scenes stuff from the website. The limited release is the directors
cut with the footage added to the movie.(I believe this may also
include the Twin Towers Trailer, but not sure about that) The second
general release is the extra footage NOT added into the movie, just
as extra scenes. Both include the behind the scenes/making
of/interviews/how we made Gandalfs hat so pointy bits etc etc

(Sorry if this came twice

From the press release:

A "Special Extended Edition" of The Lord of the Rings: The
Fellowship of the Ring is set to arrive in stores November 12. This
extended edition of the film contains more than 30 minutes of never-
before-seen footage created for the home video release.

The "Special Extended DVD Edition" will be contained in a four-disc
set with two discs containing the film, and two discs with more than
six hours of added content, produced specifically for the DVD. These
extras will plunge the viewer into the complex landscape of Middle-
earth, and reveal how Peter Jackson and his team of skilled artists
and technicians created a painstakingly beautiful and faithful re-
creation of Tolkien's world.

A collector's DVD gift set will also be released on November 12.
This gift set will include the "Special Extended Edition" with box
art packaging conceived and designed by famed Tolkien illustrator
Alan Lee. Included with the DVD are custom bookends designed and
sculpted by Sideshow Weta, the artists that crafted the astonishing
theatrical visual effects for The Lord of the Rings. The gift set
will also include National Geographic's "Beyond the Movie" DVD,
containing two previously unreleased featurettes and a photo
gallery.

Hey all,

Is the MEPBM office closed today for a holiday? I
forgot what day they were taking.

Thanks in advance for the info...

Ok, so this is the perfect chance for me to ask something I've been wondering for a while:

Why the heck don't you guys play as one team!?! Wouldn't you be a lot better that way? I know you guys insisted upon joining FIFA, it just seems strange.

RD: The Scots are too proud and stubborn to consider joining forces with England, despite the fact that when Scotland do make it to the World Cup, they're always knocked out in the first round by teams like Costa Rica. Witness all the Scots, green with envy that England made it and they didn't, cheering on Argentina.

Besides, the Scots haven't got any players who are good enough for the England team. England could use Ryan Giggs of Wales, but that's about it!

No Holiday but some of us took some time off to watch the footie. No day was being taken off - we advised players that we work Bank holidays though - maybe there was some confusion there?
