isnt there a longer DVD for LOTR coming out in November, a special gift set
or something? Can't remember what sets it apart from DVD just released,
could someone educate me?
Hey Richard! The November one is a TRUE extravaganza with about 30 minutes
of added movie. Not clips... movie. Looks phenomonal. I'm holding out...

I couldn't decide between the widescreen and the fullscreen DVD . . . so I
bought them BOTH! AND I will be buying the "extended" version in November!
Pathetic, isn't it?

I guess he (the director) is taking after Lucas who
did many new and improved versions of his movies on
VHS. I bought the Widescreen version of LOTR and will
also buy the extended version coming out in November.
Now with the Two Towers, I will just wait for the
extended version. I figure, fool me once shame on
you... It won't happen twice!

Pan-and-scan? *shudder* Of all the films to watch with half of the film
missing, this would seem a particularly bad one. All those vast, sweeping
shots of New Zeland^W^WMiddle-Earth are just going to lose it, utterly...
I agree about releasing the "regular" and "extended" versions months apart -
it reeks of an attempt to gouge twice the money from the real "hard-core"
fans. I've got a stack of DVDs yay high to watch already, so I'll manage to
hold off, I hope. The plan is to buy and watch both FotR and Harry Potter in
November so they're fresh in my mind for the yummy Christmas sequels
Regards,
Tim.
