How does the Mantle work?
Could I use it to protect another nation’s pop centre even if I am on the other side of the map?

Many are the mysteries of the Mantle. If you are on the receiving end of it, you will be hurt.

Hi, Brendan.
- Join game 221
- Throw everything you have at the poor Northmen, who are as friendly and fun-loving as, say, the Cloud Lord.
- Pretend you have no idea where the Mantle is, but secretly gather information about it while planning your retaliation…
You know we are coming for you next

Just tell me when and I’ll roll you on over.
You have to move to the target hex and “activate” it there. but then you can move off…but beware, only one hex is hidden at any time. A nice example of how not to use it in g231; we pressure the Northmen capital, northmen panic and hide said capital. this reveals the NG capital [minas tirith] , where we have the cursers and emmies lying in wait. minas tirith falls to the curse-emmy assault. is the NG player pissed?
LR g231
You will notice that the order requires you to list the artifact being used. This suggests more than one artifact can hide a pop center. Certainly some “old timers” believe that the secondary power of a certain artifact, every other even game, allows it to hide a pop center. As it happens, I intend to test this theory in a game I am currently in.

Cheers Dave, I will use this knowledge wisely.
