I can't speak for Tibor, but given that I was working on a similar
program to his until I saw how far along he was, I'll throw my two
cents in.
There's information that is difficult to parse out of the PDFs,
including (off the top of my head) orders submitted (due to fuzzy
rendering of some lines in some PDFs), bridge update information from
the graphical map pages, and enemy icon information from the graphical
map pages.
If that information were in the XML, it would be easier to parse. And
where there's information in both the PDF and the XML, the XML is
already in nice form and so much easier to reparse than from the PDF.
The reason I was parsing the PDFs directly was because there was
information there that wasn't in the XML file. I suspect that was
Tibor's reason as well.
I know that Bernie Gaider would like certain additions to the XML in order
to further develop his excellent Order Checker program. I hope you chaps
who understand it all are talking to each other and have a pooled list of
requested changes to the XMLs.
What's the status of Palantir now? Will the new mapper become the
"official" one in due course?

When we have the conversion program sorted then we'll be able to work on updating the XMLs. It's a matter of time, effort and resources. If anyone wants to help feel free to get in touch.

Unknown. Palantir probably won't get further developed hence we're looking at other options.

The conversion from Mac to PC. It will enable us to have a better database structure amongst many other things.

The conversion program? What's that then?
