Well done to you guys. I know you have been working towards this for some time.
A big step for you lot and a significant commitment. I know some people, including Ed (I know and respect Ed's opinion and play in the same team as him so I'm not having a go at him), are concerned but I'm not. You have enough commerical acumen to know that any changes you want to make need to be discussed and made clear to players. An example would be a 1650 game with new riddles, different reactions for dragons and randomised artifacts, at face value is great (Hang on people don't want to start the debate on what should be changed yet. That is for another day). The above changes, however, would tip the balance in favour of the FP because of all the information that is available. So changes like this would need to be carefully considered and maybe balanced up.
So I look forward to new scenarios and improvements after careful thought. I'm sure that there will still be a player base for the current game for some years but think of the potential. It also brings up, potentially, some of the fog of war and discoverer that a thread on the notice board cover a week or so ago. This is something Ed (and others) wanted.
So don't judge until we know the outcome. This is potentially a great step forward. How Harley use it is up to them. If they get it wrong then it will hurt them, If they get it right (which I am confident they will) then it will benefit us all and whilst there are enough people wanting to play the game as it is right now Harley will run it. (It makes economic sense)
So revel in your great day Harley. You deserve it.
I look forward to the future debates on the direction of the game. Just remember that 90% of customers are not normally that vocal. Small steps are most likely best. Perhaps we should wait for Harley to put some parameters on the debate once they have got over thier hangovers.
Congratulations and enjoy.
Cheers
