ME One nation choices

Actually I don't object to Clint's trial balloon that the fellow with the fat wallet gets first choice. Trust that does not seem abusive.

Suggestions I've liked:

- Let picky players wait. If someone is willing to
wait a year for the Cloud Lord, so be it.

- In games where people play two nations, pair popular
nations with less popular ones.

- Give preference to players who haven't played a
given nation before.
At first, I thought it might be too much work to
track all the player histories, but maybe not:
entering a new game entry doesn't sound too bad.

- let people join in groups of 2-4 and have them
choose from the nations given.

- ask for second and third choices for anyone
requesting a hot-ticket nation.

- keep encouraging people to list two or three
choices, and to try new ones! I'm hoping to try every
nation in each scenario, and it never occurred to me
before that this was a problem. Encourage vets to take
the exposed spots and newcomers to take safer ones.

"Balancing" the nations sounds more difficult, and not
necessarily effective.

Charging more for popular nations doesn't sit well
with me. They may not be more fun anyway (I've played
the Noldo only once, also with a GWC, and found it
less fun than a front-liner).

RD: Well I object, very strongly to the guy with the fat wallet going first (no offence Ed!). This means the selfish guy who is breaking the spirit if not the letter of the house rules gets rewarded at the expense of the unselfish guy who is keeping them!

Whatever happened to fairness and equitability?

I thought Harle prided itself on those qualities. If Harle goes down the road of charging one player more than another for the same number of potential orders, on whatever pretext, it will become just another servant of Mammon. The customer base will become a house divided against itself, which cannot stand, and the game of Middle-earth will be consumed in the flames of debt. Woe, woe, and thrice woe!

Which would be a real shame with the 'Return of the King' coming out on general release soon. A marketing opportunity for Harle or what?

  Richard.
