EXACTLY :fork::mad:
Having to need OBN srategy to win a Game means you wasn’t Good enough to win without it… That is Bull**** to even need it!:bash:
We had setup for the OB tactic for 2 reasons.
-
To use the tactic to its limits, raising cities and keeps all over
Mirkwood and NW as never seen before. -
To highlight the OB problem.
We specifically setup for OB and the ruling caused serious damage
to many of our nations.
If we had not setup to play OB the game would have already been
won by us.
The effects of it while it was employed was used to a dramatic effect…
But your team failed in to communicate thier needs properly after it was taken away but the advantage was still yours.
That didn’t take away from the Fact Mordor was breached at the most critical location 3224 and deverted vital resources in response to reclaim giving time for a comeback from your early success… So you can’t blame a ruling mid game on the loss when the players made mistakes that shifted the tide…
The game while I was init was well played and hard fought!
I have never Lost as NG and this team gelled after I left! So kudos to the FP! Condolances to the DS!
Bang on Terry!! lol The game is far from finished, save the compliments. Losing 3224
or 3221 was nowhere as crucial as losing the FK to bankruptcy… The speed of the
market crash took everyone by suprise. Retaking 3224 and 3221 was a piece
of cake
The problem is we had geared our whole campaign around having the one nation bank. Once the ruling was made we disbanded the bank by sending big chunks of it out to other nations that turn. We had not had time to reset the levels of our armies and when the market crashed the following turn, it caught several of us out. (me as Fire King for one) Had the market fallen by only 1/2 of what it did I would have been fine, even with loosing the two towns. I know of several other games that were running at the same time where they simply just stopped adding to the bank and the market remained high for the duration of the game.

That was a hard part for the LR, after implemting a total OB strategy having to transfer
out his only asset besides armies and characters out… Ouch
But the rules didn’t change, they are the same as always. Using a loophole in the code to inflate prices was cheating.
Loads of DS teams have won without exploiting this loophole, so the fact that you are going to loose this game has nothing to do with that.
Oh wait, I forgot, you still think you have a chance of winning.
Alain
The OBN emerged from a better understanding of how the economic system worked. Would you accuse someone who had a better understanding of how threats worked to be cheating? No, in fact it was entirely within the rules and the mechanics of the game.
Loads of DS teams have won without exploiting this loophole, so the fact that you are going to loose this game has nothing to do with that.
What kind of a$$hole logic is this? Yeah, winning with the DS is quite possible w/o the OBN - but we were already committed to that approach. The transition required in order to abide by the new ruling was very much unfavorable to the DS side.
I would go as far to say that changing the rules in mid game has made this game
in the circumstances MEANINGLESS. Believe this game should be restarted. Simple
as that.
What kind of a$$hole complains about trying to manipulate a loophole in a code that gave an unfavorable advantage to their benefit… Then whines like a little baby when the team wasn’t good enough to adjust for it properly…
You don’t like the harshness of my words … I play in the Open in everygame… If your good enough! Your constant whinning reminds me of children throwing temper tantrums!
Clint made a ruling deal with it like any other game challenge! :bash:
Terry,
- Dont refrain to personal attacks, we are adults aren’t we?
- Are you still playing in this game? If not please stop posting in this thread.
- Everyone has their opnions; its a reason why living in a world full of diversity
is so special. We have our opnions and so do you. Accept it.
Guy
The ONB is no different to crashing the market. You take advantages of the mechanics to create an effect. The difference is that the market can be spiked for a given commodoty if a team is good so the crashed market is countered. The ONB cannot be countered at all and was deemed an unreasonable advantage that destroyed the game balance. We had set ourselves up expecting to have a good endless supply of cash and then had 1 turn to try and guess what level the market would be at. Go back and have a look at how hard that market fell back in 2 turns. This crash was soley due to us disbanding our bank by splitting it up. If we wanted to be bastards we would have just left those funds in place and still had a high market but we went with the spirit of the ruling and “Played nice” much to our own detriment.
Regards Herman
I don’t believe anyone questions the validity of the OBN rulling… The change had to be made… I congradulate your team for supporting the effeort to change this ruling… Also in the honor showed by removing the effect…
But when I hear words this game was ruined by one event… Cuased by this ruling that sounds like sore loser talk… That the opposition did nothing to help crash the market… That the opposing did nothing… That bothers me becuase OBN ruling had nothing to do with the success in Harad or NG success at holding OZ and pushing into mordor…
Now I undserstood from the start many on your team was playing more than one Nation… While it helps in coordination it leads to less minds focus solely on one nations needs… IF 12 minds play together as one it’s always better than 5 or 6… So give these guys there due… Becuase making excuses OBN strategy is not holding yourself’s accountable for your own shortcomings and giving the oppostion credit for taking advantage of it properly . That happens in every game whether OBN nation was used or not!
Ah, tough talk as always from the T-man. That’s what I like about you, Terry, never any punches pulled…
You don’t like the harshness of my words … I play in the Open in everygame… If your good enough! Your constant whinning reminds me of children throwing temper tantrums!
LOL. That’s serious praise coming from the high master of the rant & tantrum!
- Keith
Well mission accomplished… Now both sides are snarling and frothing at the bit! you guys needed some spice here in forum…
Everyone have fun!
Well I have to say this does indeed sound like sore looser talk. You guys had several turns of advantage from ONB tactic before it was declared cheating and banned. You promptly acted according to ME games ruling for which you definitely deserved credit but I don’t think you actually lost out in the whole situation, after all it did allow you to build up DrL position which in other games would not have been possible. In my opinion you guys actually had the upper hand at the time the ONB was banned.
FK going bankrupt was bad management that’s all.
Very strange that the complaints about the ONB ruling being unfair start when you are loosing capital after capital to our our armies, turn after turn and things must be looking pretty grim for you guys.
Reality is, you are guys are being outplayed fair and square.
Alain
Outplayed? You gotta be on the juice Alain!! Rofl Sore, yes… You’re not thinking it
through Alain, yes we invested alot of gold into the NW and had huge nation bills which
in some cases were impossible to lower with the market crash. In over 80 ME games
its been the hardest and quickest market crash I’ve yet seen and a testiment to
the OBN ruling.
Its just plain stupid to say ‘FK going bankrupt was bad management that’s all.’ when
you were’nt in the team and therefore have no way of knowing the facts surrounding
the bankruptcy. As you are so confident of your team’s abilities you would be
happy for a rematch, no?
Such denial, well at least that means we get to have some more fun before you guys throw in the towel. Which capital will be next?
A rematch, not sure about the rest of the team at this point, but I for sure could be game for a rematch, I have had fun so far. Though frankly calling me stupid doesn’t exactly put me in the right mindframe…
Alain
Rematch? And this time without any mid game rule changes we will kick your butts.
