Melkor riddle

Hi,
In one of my current games, I have the "Melkor..forevermore.."
riddle. A look at the online riddle solutions says that the correct
answer is "Morgoth" but that a character can be killed by this riddle
even if he gives the correct answer.
My question is whether there is any logic to getting killed by
this riddle or is it purely random? Does it only kill Free characters
or is it dependant on skill rank for example?
Anyone have any experience with this or has everyone just read
the "can get killed" bit & backed off as I'm tempted to do?

I've never heard of any character of any allegiance surviving that
riddle. But my information is not comprehensive...
