Assuming that MEOW works with Sun’s Java 1.1.8, then maybe you should try the Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ), which you can download at http://developer.apple.com/java/download.html. I don’t have a Mac, so I don’t know if this will help any, but maybe it will.
Thanks for the idea, Darrell. I already have that version of Mac Runtime for Java, but it doesn’t recognize the meow.jar file at all (or at least not via the Applet Runner or any browser).
Any Mac users out there?
Short answer: MEOW won’t run on Macs below OSX.
Long answer: Those Macs only take Java 1.1(.8), a very old version of Java. Because Meow is written in Swing, it requires Java 1.2 to run it (preferably 1.3 or 1.4 for best quality). Backporting MEOW to 1.1 would take a lot of time and effort that is better spent making MEOW better.
My apologies, but I’m afraid you’re stuck with Automagic (which will run on Mac Excel).
