MEPBM code changes and more anti-usa low-blows

Well, certainly if Harlequin develops a better MEPBM, they might very
well take business away from GSI. I can understand that. What I cannot
understand is, "why we can't all just get along."

A lot of companies are run for profit. The other options are not to lose
lots of money - the aussie middle earth firm was one of them, and others are
just tax dodges. Some accountants (are you listening in Stags) can't see
that being nice can make money.

By that I mean, this is not a big market. I know Harlequin runs on a
shoestring, and I can't believe GSI is doing all that much better. If
Harlequin could make a better MEPBM, and promise to license
that back to
GSI, we all win, players and companies.

Ahh, the 'license it back to GSI' would be the key. If I was GSI and clint
said 'give me the source code, I'll do all the work, and give it back so
that you make all the money', I would think (a) if he crazy, and (b) how can
Clint make money out of it ?, and (c) can we make him sign a legal document
to that effect.

The problem for GSI would be that Clint could get it to work, and then
sticks his finger to them. Fighting legal fights over different countries
when there isn't a lot of money to be won isn't my idea of a good way to
spend sparse money.

Many, many people have pushed for years for changes to the code of middle
earth. I think only GSI will do it, and they have their own dead-line that
they follow. With the recent changes to gsi/deft I think any more changes
will be a lot way away.

In short, I think GSI is being quite myopic here.

No disagreements from me. I think its good they have made new versions of
the original game (hard to determine if they improved it or not). But a lot
of changes can be made to improve the game which I can't see happening.

thanks
