Well what we were hoping was for MORE players after the film. We are
presently creating a site with that in mind...
I think the following will apply.
The hard-core Tolkien fanatics will say 'that wasn't in the book', or 'the
belts that the fellowship was given had a different pattern'. But they will
see the movie a few more time, and still play.
The normal players will watch the movie, maybe buy it, and continue to play.
But I'm 100% certain that people will watch the movie, say 'thats a nice
movie', then 'where can I get some stuff on Tolkien, Middle Earth, and the
movie'. They WILL cruise the net looking for more info, and I hope Clint
will be able to attract them into actually playing in the middle earth game,
so he needs to make sure the site works on those searches. And if people are
looking for a middle earth experience, then I suggest that you would include
some actual encounters and/or riddles the new players COULD find (the riddle
that Bilbo had being a good one). Don't give the results, and you might want
to include how many different encounters and riddles are available. I
wouldn't say that sites exist that have the answers, but maybe that new
riddles are being added all the time ?
And yes, this does mean a new site. I think the original site isn't that
crash hot for these people who know next to nothing about PBM games, and
only want to experience a middle earth experience.
As for how many will continue to play ? Well I expect legends has a better
chance to keep new players, but that doesn't mean that Clint shouldn't make
the effort.
And as for legal stuff, I wouldn't worry. I'm sure deft/GSI has it all
covered. Middle Earth is a BIG thing, ie I've played the computer game (the
ring ALWAYS went in thru the back door), got the magic cards (GREAT quality
pictures, done the role playing thing (played a ranger), and I only gave the
board game the miss (battle of five armies if I remember).
I've also got the middle earth metal figures, the middle earth calander,
have the tolkien sounds on my computer, and have a pewter middle earth cup.
thanks

ps. and finally, my house is called 'gondolin' - and I've drilled in the
sign to prove it.
pps I'm not hard-core. I don't care what pattern those belts hare, only that
they are the right colour.
