Personally I think you should have both. Keep the existing mailing
list for the low bandwith folk and generic ME questions and
discussions and a 'official' message board for the folk who like to
toss out taunts, boasts, and what-not regarding the specific games
they are playing.

Any thoughts on new games places - at present I use this for
informing
players of new games etc. Checking out the Deft MB it seemed more
confusing.
Clint
Posting here is only reaching a max audience of 151 people minus the
number of ME staff included in this #. The vast majority of which are
undoubtedly already playing games and therefore hearing about new
games within their turn reports. If the goal is advertising new games
to seek out new players then you need to post in as many places as
you may realistically attract the attention of possible players. So
long as doing so doesn't make you guilty of spamming.
Well you are in danger of being hoisted by your own liberal petard. If
you like The List, AND you don't want to offend your new North American
customers by dropping the Deft board, AND you want to doff your hat to
the facade board for good measure THEN you will have to read all three,
and post to all three whenever you want to be sure of reaching all your
customers.
I totally agree with what Facade says. The mepbmlist should be the link
between Harlequin and the players, for discussions, questions and
suggestions. Not everybody is interested in subscribing to this list, but
would be interested in checking out a board on a website once in a while,
for info/taunts etc on their specific game. The list would be more serious
and the board more for fun and contact between players. As it is now, some
people hate specific game related discussions on this list, no matter if the
subject line clearly states the game number and what its about, while some
poeple love reading about what happens in the other games, and sending
taunts to players in their own games. This problem would be easily solved by
having both a list and a board. I'm one of the low-bandwith-people, and I
want to keep this list because it's convenient for me.
You should definately come to scandinavia for a pubmeet too! There are lots
of norwegians/swedes/danes in MEPBM, and many could probably get their butts
over to Copenhagen, while the swim over the channel is to much for most of
us.

Americans are used to being royally stuffed whenever one company takes over
another. If you're nice to them, they'll only get confused. Stick with this
list: *you* are familiar with it and it works acceptably. I agree with
Laurence that you can't be all things to all men and shouldn't try.
Hya Pontus - some good points. We have considered coming over to do a demo
game as well at at "pubmeet" (probably a place where we can set up a
computer and play for the weekend).
I chatted to Henning about this when he came over to the Flagship con and he
mentioned that this might be possible. Remind me in a months time to look
into this in more detail -or maybe we can just come over for a pubmeet?
(If you could get a list of players who would be interested in this that
would help as well - I can collate it!)

I keep seeing references to the "Deft board". I don't recall ever seeing
how
to access it, though... Do we need to be in the Freemasons or something?
I like your system of a message to the list, plus a message on the
"coversheet" - like DGE did on its coversheets (but less regularly updated,
and less detailed about what was needed, recently ... maybe now I understand
why ... :).

Please do come to Copenhagen for a Demo or Pubmeet sometime soon.
I personally can garantee at least 3 and maybe up to 6 that I know
alone - and I don't know anywhere near half the danish players. And
with the swedes having easy access with the bridge we should easily be
able to gather quite a bunch.
Sounds great. - can the players interested in getting a meet organised in
that region start sending me names and possible locations and times? What
about format? Gaming event, convention, pubmeet, weekend game?

I for one would try to attend such a pubmeet. Denmark or Sweden isn't
too hard to get to from Oslo, Norway, espesially with a little
planning involved.

We have a champoinships game full of mostly danes, and many of them live
near Copenhagen, so I suggest the meeting should be held there. Not a
weekend game for me, but a Con or a pubmeet sounds good! I think you can
count me in.
