I'm sorry, I may have missed some nuances in the
arguments, but let me confirm:
Message boards are no good because the UK has internet
service that is behind the times? Well, you will
catch up......
Message boards are no good because there is the
potential for anonymous flaming of a less than
mature nature? I don't understand this argument,
we all deal with children in all walks of life: you
deal with it.
Message boards are no good because REAL players don't
want to have to share bandwidth with "cretins" who
don't follow some rule book (that they haven't learned
yet...) by not identifying their games like ME 29....??
Please.....
Actually, I do agree with many of the arguments. I
just feel that message boards are more appropriate for
this type of exchange. We have had quite a number of
good discussions about the game, strategies, etiquette,
and others.
Personally, THIS email group is a little more difficult
to deal with. Too many messages to download or run
through. It is archaic and unweildy. Archaic by
definition of technology, unweildy by definition of
ease of use.
Times, they are a changin. Harlequin has taken over
the rights of the American ME PBM market. We are a
large force in this particular market. This is a big
deal, and everything is going to be different.
Resistance to change is so trite, really. Haven't we
burnt enough people at the stakes over our human
history to learn the difference between a rational
argument that takes in all available facts, and knee
jerk reactionism…???

I agree With you Laurence,
I've used many boards for many pbm games, (i even tried hosting one myself
for a game I was in and had all of 6 postings.)I think the best options are exactly what you suggested.
Both allow offline reading and help can be accessed from any internet
account.Regards
