Middle Earth Play By Mail needs to be advertised!

Is it just me, or does Middle Earth Play-By-Mail seem to have an very small pool of players? So small in fact, that it appears there are not enough players to fill all the various scenarios? Every update seems to be a carbon copy of the previous, other than a different entry date?

I think I had last played MEPBM with I.C.E. in the early 90s and at that time, there was never a shortage in finding players for any games. However, since I rejoined the ranks of players back in November '12, I've been patiently waiting for both a 2950 and a FA1000 to begin, and each needs half of the players yet to start.

MEPBM needs to have some (or more) advertising...

If I had not played the game previously, I would never have known it existed, or was worthwhile. I realize that things are not the same now, as they were back then (economy and other types of entertainment available), but is the game now made up of just a core of long-time players who no longer want the pool of players to increase?

I've talked to some friends (who have played before) and got them interested in trying it again and they joined approx. the same time I had, but with the slow progress of games, how can I get those who've never tried it before, to give it a go? Other than word of mouth, there isn't much I can do. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Thx for hearing me out.

It would be nice to have new players. I wonder if it would be so dificult to keep a presence at Facebook and Twitter, just regular updates about new game openings, and reminders about the current games would improve a lot the comunication channel.

I would like to see mepbm get a Facebook page myself but I have been noticing that we are getting some new players in these last few games. I am in both game 96 and 225 that have just started and I have noticed there are some 8 new players in game 96 and 12-14 new players in game 225. So it does seem as if we are getting some new blood. We all know that a concentrated (meaning one they pay money for) advertising campaign is out for mepbm so it is left up to the current players to spread their own word of mouth advertising. I would love to see even more new players come to enjoy mepbm. I hope your game(s) get filled soon Bryan! David House

The Hobbit. Got a surge with the LoTR movies also, if I recall. Many returning vets, it seems. But the people who used to take a lot of their time working this community are absent...

You also have to remember that people's finances play a part. I haven't played in almost five years just because money has been so scarce. I had to drop out when we were expecting my first son, and then the economy fell apart. I haven't had enough steady discretionary income to play since then.
