I think sauron could only eye the elven babes.

Since laurence could remember the name of the Sam's
dockey, he might be able to answer my question.

Didn't Celeborn and Galadriel spend some time apart
from each other ? I think it was the second age. They
were not yet ruling Lorien, since the previous ruler
had not yet had his 'accidental' drowning which
allowed Galadriel/Celeborn their takeover. I think the
war has split them apart, but I forget where they
were.

RD: You are right about the separation. Tolkien snr never did resolve this.
'Unfinished Tales' by JRR Tolkien (edited by his son Christopher Tolkien)
(Unwin paperback in UK) has a chapter 'on Celeborn and Galadriel' which
gives a few variant (and inconsistent) histories which were never resolved.
