Hi Kevin,
Has anyone else on this list experienced this sort of 'cock-up' from
Harlequin? Is this problem more prevalent than Harlequin are letting on?
I think we should be told!
Nope, never had a problem like that. In fact I hadn't heard of anythign
similar for a while now. There is the awful tale some years ago (before
Harlequin!) which involved two teams of substantially the same people
playing two games on opposite sides. From a somewhat hazy memory of
events I think what happened was that the the Dark Servant positions in
game "A" got sent to the Dark Servants game "B" - many of whom were
Freeps in game "A".
Don't know what happened though - it's so long ago now the whole affair
has probably degenerated to the status of urban myth.
As regards Harlequin, there were some problems very early on with
in-game messages being sent to the wrong people, though such office
organisation glitches seem to have been long resolved.
Big cock-ups do happen from time to time in PBM, with most GMs these are
fortunately very rare. I once had two players with the same name in a
game I ran for some years - nightmare! Especially when other players
sent an in-game message with "For (xxxx)". I had to sit and read through
everything carefully to work out who it was really for!
Colin.
