Moderation a mistake

Clint;

I usually don’t criticize any moves you make with the game as a whole, but in this case I believe you are making a mistake. If you are going to screen every message sent to this forum before it is posted you are doing two things which I feel are counter productive to the game. First you will be spending way too much time reading email. Second you are censoring free exchange of ideas. If you decide what will and will not appear on this medium of exchange then you are controlling the way and quickness of communication.

Everyone who posts has to be able to sign in to be able to do so. Control access to the Forum if you wish by deactivating every member who has not provided you the moderator with a real name and email address. This denies them access until they give you a way of contacting them directly. They could still use their pseudonyms to post to provide annonymity but if you felt they were getting out of line you could send them a warning then knock them out of the Forum if the warning was not heeded.

This way you don’t have to read every email posted as it comes in. After all some thread topics are not going to generate controversy. This saves you a lot of time over screening everything. It also gives you what you are looking for, a way to identify those who are posting. I feel that controlling access is better than censorship.

Agree with Brad.

Not to mention that the time-lag between submission and actual posting will tamper much of the immediacy of taunting in the games, which is what makes the Forum interesting.

Frankly, they already seem to have lost their edge…

Ban misbehavors, screen who gets to post, but don’t moderate the postings…

My $0.02 worth (which is only a lousy 1p these days!).

And another moderation thread…

That’s 3 moderation threads started due to the delay in the threads appearing. We really need to figure out something better Clint.

Cheers
