You have a character traveling with an army to start the turn. The army issues a move order; while character issues a 870 move and join order (moving to another location, joining another army). If the original army the character was travelling with is routed through during movement, is the character dead too?
Order sequence suggests this. 850, 860 versus 870.
However, the movement points system is supposed to reflect the two week passage of time.
I dont know for certain as it hasnt happened to me before. But, I would assume that the character would die as the army movements are resolved before the 870 order takes place. Would be good to know this for certain though, just in case!!:>
You can move a maximum of 12 hexes. The only exception is cavalry that moves up to 14 hexes. Assume the army moves 12 hexes then the char would then leave the amy attempting to join the new army. Otherwise Id assume the same. If the move would make the chars movement more than 12 hexes then he wont move but leave the army as if to join the army he was ordered to.
To be clearer, army moves 12 hexes or more the char would remain in the same hex as the army he was leaving. If possible to make the target hex(his move works out to 12 hexes or less) then he will make the target hex.
Good clarification on the movement of characters that are travelling with armies, but that wasn’t Pechorin’s question at all.
Based on just the order numbers, you could assume that the overrun would occur during orders 850-860, and you character would die before he/she had a chance to leave the army.
The fact, of course, is that I don’t know the answer for sure, but I would advise that until someone does know for sure, it would be best to assume that your character would die befire they have a chance to move away from the army.
An 810 will move the char to safety. The 870 will get him killed. An army that is overrun and chars killed whether or not they are all in there. Overrun sizes are such that the constitution of the army is highly unlikely to prevent character deaths. This is like suiciding a small army on a settlements fortifications for the loss of the army and commander. Anyone who has done this with more than 1 char in the army will know what happens when a smaller army, with multiple chars, is overrun.
Experimaentation is fine when theres nothing to lose. Make sure the guys on your team know what you’re up to.
