Gavin: While you intended it for a joke, there is a lot of similarity. Nine different Democrats running, each with a slightly different platform. One Republican with the status quo. The Republican will win as will the status quo in this game--since those who desire change can't agree on what to change to what degree.

Without wanting to divert this topic too much, the reference was first and
foremost to the *last* election...

In the next, there will be one Dem (hopefully Kerry) and one Bush (complete
with support team). A few months ago I would have agreed that, regrettably,
Bush was headed for a second term. Now, however, the odds are even. Even the
Bush camp is beginning to worry that things could turn sour, just like
Poppy.
