Don't really fancy going into the long and the short of Political
correctness the strengths and the weakness of it all.
As for the name try Clint Walker as well. My parents originalyl called me
Paul but thought that too boring so now I quite like it...

I think most people who play the game are not trying to offend, if a name
is offensive i am sure
a quite aside from the gm would see it stop.
I have found out you cannot change names during the game thus if you do
step on someone's toes
it remains to game end>

I don't think that's correct. Harlequin have killed and recreated one
of my characters before now as a result of (hushed and whispered
tones...) one of their input errors. (Yes, I know the mantra "It only
happens 1% of the time".)
You should always challenge when the name you selected for your
character has been input wrongly. You pay your money, it's not cheap.
I get really annoyed when I read in someone's news, "I have a new agent
named 'Fred the Slsyer', should have been 'Fred the Slayer' but
Harlequin have input it incorrectly, never mind." I mind, and it does
matter, because if it's an input error, and it's not reported, then
Harlequin remain more confident of their accuracy than they should be -
unfair on the players. And if it is not an input error, for example if
the guy made a typo or has shoddy handwriting, then he is slagging
Harlequin behind their backs - unfair on them.
Your example however is when the fault is on your part. I'm sure if you
explain to the GM that you are worried that your character name is
offensive, he could be persuaded to kill and recreate. BUT it would be
a hell of a lot easier if you err on the side of caution in your
horseplay to begin with.

We can change names as appropriate. The hard bit is the starting character
names (such as in FA). If they go wrong they generally have to stick.
The problem with wrong names where the error is in the first 5 letters is
that it is a RIGHT pain to sort out. We can do it though.
