a name that can not be mistaken for someone else.
So peter could be named after anyone, but Mohammed (or
whatever the correct
spelling is), is likely to be named after a famous religious person.
Would that be Mohammed Ali the boxer? or Maybe Mohammed Ali
the former king
of Egypt? Maybe Mohammed Khatemi President of Iran, or
Mohammed Reza Shah
the ex-monarch? or Mohammed Nazr who plays basketball at the
University of Kentucky?
But to me there is only one mohammed. All the others are a second name to
distinguish them.
If I
named a agent after mohammed then a normal person would think
that i'm
doing
it to poke fun at someone's relgion (ie I'm saying that mohammed is a
thief).A normal Christian Western-European or American perhaps. A
normal muslim
would see Mohammed (and derivative names like Mahmoud) as
quite a bit more
common than Peter. (Now, if he were REALLY touchy, he might
infer that you
thought muslims were thieves, but that is a little more of a stretch.)
Anyway, if you were playing Easterlings or Harad, and were
using generally
Arabic or Islamic names to go with the general feel of those
countries,
Mohammed would be no better or worse than any other.....nah, i love a good argument myself.
Can I try to come back from a (heavy) loss to you, in again saying that its
not the name that caused the problem. Its how people react to the name.
Winn
