Most of this looks very good, coming from a player who has
completed one and is in one game of 1650. However, I disagree strongly
with LR choice. Although he has almost no chance of being elminated
(good), the position is tricky, offers a lot of options, and a few
false moves/mistakes can mean Free can run amok in Rhun area, or
losing Din or Lomelinde early can seriously hurt the DS agent
activity.
Also, because they are fairly independent, veterans might not be
as keen to help them as if they started with a Mordor nation ,and the
vet and team really needed to work together and help the newbie or
the whole Dark position is vulnerable in such a situation.
The LR was my first position I ever played. Now its true that my team did
win the game mostly because our experienced teammates were fantastic and I
did lose Din very early on to an encounter (On turn 2 actually <grin>). and
never recovered the Ring of Binding until turn 15 or so. The free still
didn't manage to run amok in Rhun. I actually would agree that the LR is a
great choice for a Newbie on the whole though. Its a vital position and
really does need to co-ordinate with the other DS since its Agents and Map
of the Rhun area are really useful.
