Navy Questions

Hi,

What happens if I'm in a shore hex with my navy facing a nation with
both a navy and an army? If I issue a 235, Attack Nation will I
fight the navy first and then anchor my ships (assuming anything's
left) and then fight the army?

Thanks in advance,
-Chesley

Yes. And if you issue Capture Pop, you would then go on to do battle with an enemy pop of that same nation if one were present.

It's annoying that you can't just fight the navy, should you want to.

And the really annoying part is that if he attacks you with both his navy and army you will allso fight both first the navy and then the army

For clarity an army cannot attack a navy that is offshore, correct?
Or would this cause the navy to anchor ships and then do an army
battle?

Can enemies or allies use ports at hidden population centers, e.g.
4413 (Sinda) and 4215 Long Rider? Can the Northmen or Sinda move
into 4215 if its still hidden? If I'm the Long Rider and I anchor
my ships at 4215 (still hidden) can the northmen capture those ships?

Thanks in advance,
-Chesley

I don't think so. I think what David is saying is that he has discovered a loophole wherby if you fight a navy battle, your troops count as if they had landed during the course of the turn, so they can then be attacked by an army. News to me, but since an army cannot usually attack a navy (as in your question) it would have been a fluke for someone to have tried attacking a navy both with a navy AND an army.

No, not unless he reveals it first.

You can find several articals on tax rates and
references to economies on the MEPBM web site. The
artical I use is "A Beginners Guide to MEPBM" Part 1
It's the economy stupid! by Rob Gaul. It was
published in one of the Bree issues. Sorry I don't
know which issue.

Recent gaming experience indicates that for each percent tax rate change,
there is a 50% chance of a loyalty change of 1 point per pop center.

Roughly, the rule of thumb is that pop centers will change in loyalty about
one-half the total tax rate percent change.

Interested to see who else chimes in on this. Your mileage may vary.

I am not actually looking for how much it will change when I change the Tax
Rate but how much it will affect loyalty on a turn by turn basis.

I happen to think that the change though is much more than 50%. I have lost
numerous camps on turn 1 when increasing my tax rate from 40% to 59%.

Eric, I completely agree with you. My general experience has been that an increase of 20% to the tax rate brings an average drop of 10 points per pop center in loyalty. However, the actual loyalty drops per pop center usually range around 5-15 points initially, so the average can be a bit misleading.
