Navy questions

Regarding navys:

1. 2 opposing navys are in land hex and ordered to attack eachother.
The combat is naval, not land. TRUE / FALSE

I assume by land, you mean a shore hex. Yes, this battle will be a naval battle.

2. Navy A and Navy B are in land hex with CP and port belonging to B.
Navy A attacks CP. Navy B does nothing (say 215 and an 830 that turn).
Will navy A have to fight navy B to take the pop center? YES / NO

Yes, an army/navy in its own pop center will always defend that pop center.

- if YES, will this combat be a land or naval combat?

I would guess navy, but I can't say for sure.

3. Navy A and Navy B are in land hex with CP and port belonging to B.
Navy A attacks CP. Navy B gives defend orders. Will navy A have to
fight navy B before trying to take CP? YES / NO

Yes, because B owns the pop center. I don't believe there would be a fight if B did not own the center.

- If the answer is yes is the combat a land combat or a naval combat?

Naval, I believe.

4. army A and navy B are in land hex with CP and port belonging to B.
army A attacks CP. Navy B does nothing (215 and 830 for instance). - Will army A have to fight navy B before trying to take CP? YES / NO

Navy B will anchor ships to defend its own pop center.

** Sorry, but answer to this one is NO. Navy B will NOT automatically
defend unless given orders to. Otherwise, it will sit off shore and stare
at its pop center as it gets razed to the ground. Yes, I witnessed this
happen.
