Nazgul Rating

Nazgul Rating

GamStTa = Games Started or Takenover
Nazgul rating = Winning% = GamWon / GamStTa

When proposed, this wasn't an addition to the very complicated ranking system that will be imposed, but a replacement for. KiSS - Keep is Simple.

However There must be some consideration for how soon a game ends after you pick up a dropped position. Back in the DGI days, I picked up a dropped position, and ended up being the only FP left in the game before I'd even used up my 2 free turns.

Will we at least be able to talk to other nations in the game before deciding to pick up a dropped position? I can't see picking up a dropped position blind if it is going to count against us just as much as having run the position the entire game.

Multiple positions in games only count once.

Okay, this one confounds me. Why would picking up a position blind in a game we were not already in count against us, but picking up a dropped ally position then taking it to victory not count for us?

What's your solution? Must play 1/2 the game? What if you've
played 10/55 turns and, once you took over the nation, were a key
member in the teams resurgence? What if your cousin played
42/55 turns and was a key reason why it took so long to win?
What if you picked it up on turn 38 only to have the other team
concede on turn 40? How do you reward OR penalize the poor sap
who just wanted to pick up a position?

What if What if What if...I thought you were the one arguing
against all the What if's...? Keep it Simple S.

Why would picking up a nation blind count against you? What
are you talking about? If it's Blind it's 50/50 whether
you'll win…the exact same odds as if you started a brand
new independent game…???

Games, not nations, are what matters. If you're playing
1 nation in a game but your ally is playing 2 nations,
how do you calculate a "winning percentage" that takes that
into account? Or, do YOU want to reward only those who
pay more.....

Win/Start is probably a better Win% (as Darrell mentions in
another email). Or, to take into account picked up nations,
Win/Play...?

Mind you, haven't heard anyting definitive from the company
regarding late declaring neutrals...but I'd expect that
personality/behaviour anomolies (that's what they are...)
aren't worth drafting special rules for. Some may think
that there are massed hoardes at the gates just itching to
"work the system" for their own benefit, so they can run
home to their girlfriends (chat rooms...?) showing off their
MEPBM Player Rankings placing. Eh, all the power to them,
they usually go away soon anyway.

** Yes I have taken into account your opinion here. I think KiSS normally stands for "Keep it Simple Stupid". (For clarity).

** I am playing with the idea that there is certain grace period. Either at the end of the game (so that players drop on turn 50 and the game ending on turn 52 won't get a "Dropped" penalty and those taking up drop outs and then the game ending shortly (define shortly - 2 turns?) don't get that penalty or any penalty. Normally I manage to judge when a game is about to end - the players say "this game is about to end" or something similar. Then I discourage players from taking the nation up or don't offer it.

*** To minimise the pay more get more points. Some arbitrary line has to be drawn and this is what I suggest.
