Midgard have just won out first “grudge game”, game 57 ending after 22 exciting turns. “The Nomads” it seems have slunk away back into the desert and feel too inadequate to give us a rematch. We therefore offer an open challenge to any team who will take us on.
We propose:
2 nations per player
1650 scenario
Midgard play FP
Pre-aligned neutrals, opposition may make 1st and 4th choice or 2nd and 3rd. 5th neutral removed.
Defeat must be conceded if the nations on one side outnumber the other by 2:1
The probability of a return match would be assumed
We’re happy to consider any variations on the above. Please let me know if you’re interested.
I called Roll and didn’t even raise my own hand. I blame RIM - all those blackberries, every second turn a new player would interrupt “Um, sorry guys, I have to take this…” and leave the battle room…never to return…
Good team issuing challenge in this thread - you better get yourselves working like a machine if you accept the gauntlet…
Oh, I see you’re going back to the Neutral Lottery idea?
A early precursor to Nomads fought Tilley with the Neutral Draft. We, the FP, ended up with Rhudaur and Corsairs vs Harad and Easterlings. I think Laurence was the Witch King, their starting strategy had to make some adjustments when we chose Rhu instead of the better Dun characters… Interesting scenario, I say challenge them and have fun with the Neutral discussion!
“Lottery” is a misnomer, as is “draft” (though you use that word in slightly curious ways across the pond). Challengers tell us if they want first and fourth choice of neutrals, then make first choice, or wait for us to annouce first choice, other team declares which two neutrals they want, team that chose first declares the last neutral, then the remaining neutral is removed.
I think it’s great fun as it offers the option to have DunRhu HarCor on the same sides, something which often happens in open games, and does not, despite the great alarms of nearby nations spoil the game - it’s 4 neutrals all going the same way which can do that (but does not always).
We’re up for a fixed neutral split as well if that’s desired by an opposition. But we’re offering the 1st/4th 2nd/3rd system and it has my personal recommendation as a great variation.
