There are strategy articles out there, but treat them with caution.
Firstly, as soon as somebody writes a strategy article, everybody who reads
it will spot any flaws in it and play accordingly. Secondly, the REALLY
experienced guys are crusty old b****s who have been playing ME for decades
(literally!). These guys do not write strategy articles, because they like
to keep their hard-won knowledge to themselves, unless you are on their
team, when they will be more forthcoming.<
I learned from Legends that there are an awful lot of guesses as to how the
code works which are really only based on random patterns in the data.
I've been suitably cautious on how much I rely on the articles. One thing
I've found already: there's a frequently quoted formula for the E skill
plus Loyalty needed to Improve a PC, but
(1) it's not just the total that matters, if either value is too low you're
liable to fail even if the other is very high,
(2) the numbers given are too low.
