New Spells

But then the Dark Lord would have been able to get at Frodo and the
One Ring before the Fellowship had formed, killed him, retrieved the
ring and write a vastly different history of Middle-Earth.

ScoChar by mage power is inconsistent with the story and the world
around it, in which we play.

That would be more like D&D than Tolkein.

From a game mechanics perspective, this seems sensible, but again,
from a Middle-Earth perspective, there's not much supporting
documentation in the storyline to suggest this is where and how the
improvement occurs.

Two cents and all that rot.
