Since my last turn sheet I have been reading my rule book, over and
over to answer an apparently simple question. But to my chagrin...
no luck with finding the answer. Thus I am tapping in to the vast
wealth of knowledge this message board has to offer by asking... you!
Here is my combat "delimma"...
Assuming no personal challenges are involved... (refused, not
issued)...
If my army engages in combat and loses - will I necessarily lose my
army commander (automatically or maybe?!?!)?
Also, if my army engages in combat and loses - will I necessarily
lose any army "sub" commanders (other characters who joined the army)?
Basically I have combat guaranteed next turn... wasn't sure whether I
will have any characters alive after I get crushed (outnumbered but
won't get "overrun").
Any help is greatly appreciated... first to respond will be supplied
a lifetime of vauleless prizes.

"Not necessarily" but there is a chance of the army commander, and any
characters with the army, being (a) injured, (b) killed, (c) captured and
held hostage. No clue as to the odds, I've seen all those results, and
injuries are fairly common even on the winning side. That said, it is not
at all uncommon for all your characters to survive the defeat. If you
expect defeat and can spare an order, consider MovChar to get them out of
there. Ghouls and assassins often lurk around battlefields hoping for easy
pickings the following turn.

challenge and move away; and if you have an agent and your opponents have
assassins in play, consider guarding any particularly valuable characters
left sitting on the carrion heap.
