Another question undoubtedly answered somewhere…I beg your patience…
I know you cannot issue orders to a new character but can the newly minted commander received troops from a split army order?
Thanks!

Yes.
Just hope nobody else is using the id that you want to use for the new character.
That’s why you will often see army commanders with real wierd names. Lord Zsplyt leading a Witch-king army, he really wanted to be certain he got his troops.
I am certain I tried this in a previous 1650 game and it did not work, not sure of the error though since it was a few years ago.

This must have happend because the name you gave your new commander was already in use, cause the new named commanderto have a ME generated name, causing the 765 order to fail. It IS possible to 765 to a commander named the same turn. I have pdf proof (and are NOT afraid to use it ;))
Let me know if you want the pdf.
Jeppe,
Thanks for the kind offer, I certainly would like to see the pdf to understand how I messed it up, make sure it is not in GB 99 or 12 though.

I would assume this means you can 780 (Transfer Command) to them as well, but as mentioned, the only real risk is accidentally repeating a name already in the game.
Aye, one of the players in my current game did a 780 to a freshly created commander.
interesting option, I must admit that I never tried that… and even more interesting: does a newly hired char appear on a scochar report? since 930 comes after 728, it should be. Any experiences on that?
Newly named characters definitely show up on 930 scout on the same turn. Just seen this as the LR 1650 game on turn 1 in NM capital
Hi Paul
