Hi,
I'm starting to compile material for the next issue of Bree and would
welcome all contributions. I have a number of endgame reports, a
beginner's guide, a poem or two, a game diary - but no strategy
articles.
I'd also like to announce the News from Bree Christmas competition.
Whilst it is probably unlikely that any new riddles will be added to the
game in the near future, I have received some suggestions for new
riddles and thought - why not? If you feel inspired to write a riddle or
two (anything Tolkien based) then send them in (along with the answer of
course).
All readers of Bree will then be invited to submit their answers to the
riddles, there being a prize for the person who gets the most right
(excluding riddles they have submitted themselves of course!)
All riddles will be passed on to Harlequin - you never know whether it
might become possible to add in new riddles at some stage!

The best riddles, including those in "The Hobbit" have answers which are common objects or abstract nouns. "An egg" "The Wind" "Hate", so you should broaden from "anything Tolkien based" to "anything not inconsistent with Middle Earth".
I get a bit fed up with the riddles which are basically a trawl through the reference books rather than a test of wit.

RD: I sent an endgame report to Harle on ME29 (first outing of the War of
the Ring variant). If you haven't got this please ask 'em as I've already
deleted my copy!
No new strategy articles articles from me I'm afraid, but I might possibly
submit a few riddles, time permitting.

RD: And there I was, just about to trawl thru the encyclopoaedia of
Middle-earth to invent a few easy ones!
If Colin will accept broader-based ones as you suggest then I have a few
(yes, they are original) which I can throw in.
Here's one of the former type which any reader of LoR should be able to work
out:
His eyes and his sword were bright, not dim;
Bushy eyebrows grew out beyond his hat's rim.
Spent much of the Third in pursuit of the Ring,
But when it was offered, would not take the thing.
