Next FTF Game

Two events planned: One in the UK one in the US.

We're now planning a Cardiff game in June/July? Any takers? Date
negotiable but provisionally: June 21st (Friday) - 23rd June (Sunday). For
those that that can't make the Friday it's fine to have turns run by someone
else for the Friday.

My preferences: I would like to have a GM on each side - playing a simple
nation so that they are able to help out their team-mates and keep an eye on
things. Time limit per turn, maybe with Chess clocks/reminders. Set time
from receiving the first turn. So half an hour after receiving turns you
get your First turn in for your team, then from then on with 20 minutes your
final turn in. The opposing team (who should get their 1st turn 10 minutes
after you) should get their orders in within the same timescale meaning a
turnaround of some 1hr15-30 mins.

I prefer to have no turns sent out before hand - but you would be made aware
of teams and positions so that vague/specific plans can be made before hand.
Same as the World Champ rules with a Fort on 1910 and 4217.

Penatlies: Players that go past this deadline get Named and Shamed. 3rd
offence lost 10 off a non-essential stat on a character. 2nd offence same.
3rd offence 10 off a pertinent stat. Then 20 etc.

We're thinking of coming over to the USA to do this as well - anyone
interested?

Clint

US Game? Sounds great!

Would suggest one of the following venues:

New York, Chicago, Washington DC, or Atlanta.

Why? Because these are the cities that have direct
flights from London. I think you can even catch a
flight from Manchester to Washinton's Dulles on
Northwest/KLM, how is that for close to Cardiff?

That's how I would make my decision, plus New York or
DC have some of the better sights to see if you want
to spend a few extra days.

Anyone got a game club or other venue within and
hour's drive of one of these cities? Hey Nolan, dont
you guys game somewhere near Arlington?

Other suggestions?

Mike

OK, a US game HAS to happen now. I've been salivating reading the results
of the past FTF games -- don't get me excited and leave me hanging (er... as
it were). I would definitely be in for 1-2 positions. What would you
expect costs/fees to run?

I'm somewhat biased, but I'd say Chicago for a US site. If the main reason
you're doing a US FTF game is to bring people together, then Chicago would
be the best choice geographically, given the central location. Not mention:
GREAT food, people, sights. Suggest spring or fall for best weather.

No club that I'm aware of in the area, unfortunately. For all I know, I'm
the only player in the Midwest. (Out of curiosity, IS anybody out there
from the Chicago area?)

Hey Everyone,

I would love to get in on an FTF game in the US. What about Las Vegas?
That place is epic. We could get a hotel room somewhere, hang out and enjoy.

Clint,

having gone through the pain, anguish and exhileration of the Christmas F2F
game, you can certainly put me down for the summer one - though only playing
one nation this time, I can't afford another nervous breakdown!

US game also sounds interesting, I'm doing the tour of the relatives at some
time this year..... somebody please restrain me, now where did I put that
life I used to have?

Cheers

Simon

PS I would seriously recommend getting involved in one of these, they are an
experience and a good place for newbies to learn a few tricks from the old
timers ;-).

With Clint wanting to speed things up I can definately NOT advise
playing two nations. I did it in the Copenhagen game and spent most
of the time just doing my nations without focusing on what was
happening elsewhere.
But on the other hand *only* playing Rhudaur would be a bit boring.

Hi Chris,
I played two nation in the Copenhagen game it was to much (to many errors).
But if you would play two nation then WK/Rhud or Art/Car could work but it's hard not much time to get a overall picture on what is going on and stuff like that.

Cheers,
Ben

I'm game for this. I had a fun time in Copenhagen, even if the room
we had was tiny and dark compared to the Freep room

Øystein

Sign me up for the US event! Twice!!

Now, _THAT_ I like! Might be a bit distracting tho' ...

OTOH, it is as easy to get to as any other US city ...
