Next FTF Game

Clint,
I think the US FtF game is a great idea. However, rather than the East
coast, how about Chicago. As others have mentioned it enjoys direct flights
from everywhere, has great fall weather, and quite a few interesting sights.
This year, the Bears (american football team) are playing out of town while
the stadium is being reconstructed, so there won't be quite the crowding on
the weekends you would normally see.
As far as a venue, there are quite a few hotels near O'Hare airport that
offer conference rooms for a price. If 20 of us show up, I'm sure it
wouldn't be that much more to get the room for that period of time.
Vegas sounds fun, but I'm not sure my wife would buy that I'm going to
Vegas for a weekend of FtF pbm gaming...
New York is very expensive and crowded.
Chicago is a nice friendly midwestern city.

Of course, I'm not biased at all, living in Chicago, but quite a few groups
choose Chicago as their location for conferences etc. because of the central
location and ease of transportation.

Just some thoughts
Mick

Two events planned: One in the UK one in the US.

We're now planning a Cardiff game in June/July? Any takers?
Date
negotiable but provisionally: June 21st (Friday) - 23rd June
(Sunday). For
those that that can't make the Friday it's fine to have
turns run by someone
    else for the Friday.

My preferences: I would like to have a GM on each side -
playing a simple
nation so that they are able to help out their team-mates
and keep an eye on
things. Time limit per turn, maybe with Chess
clocks/reminders. Set time
from receiving the first turn. So half an hour after
receiving turns you
get your First turn in for your team, then from then on with
20 minutes your
final turn in. The opposing team (who should get their 1st
turn 10 minutes
after you) should get their orders in within the same
timescale meaning a
    turnaround of some 1hr15-30 mins.

I prefer to have no turns sent out before hand - but you
would be made aware
of teams and positions so that vague/specific plans can be
made before hand.
Same as the World Champ rules with a Fort on 1910 and 4217.

Penatlies: Players that go past this deadline get Named and
Shamed. 3rd
offence lost 10 off a non-essential stat on a character.
2nd offence same.
3rd offence 10 off a pertinent stat. Then 20 etc.

We're thinking of coming over to the USA to do this as well
- anyone
    interested?

    Clint

Clint and Mick,
I am in Saint Paul, and if it IS in Chicago, I can get a group of at least 5-7 to drive down. Chicago is always a fun town, and I agree that it is centrally located, so as to better facilitate people to arrive. Heck if you are only aiming for 15-20 you could fill that in no time

Postatem obscuri lateris nescitis.

Hey Guys,

This is Nick in Minneapolis; count me in if the
destination is Chicago. And any players in my area
who care to chat and exchange strategies are welcome.

cheers,
Nick

I also live in the Minneapolis/St Paul area and would gladly make a
commitment if we were to play in Chicago. Heck, if 5-8 (including
me) of the people are from this area, maybe this town should be
considered also. Unfortunately this airport tends to be
significantly more expensive for US travel. Although direct flights
to Europe exist for numerous airlines.

It is very interesting to find out that there are this many ME
players in this area!
