No e-mail, no pride

That is NEVER an excuse for failing to communicate. Some of us
greybeards remember when nobody had e-mail.

I call pre-net days.

We wrote letters

strangly, I feel better getting my turnsheet as smail than I do when I get
it as email. Maybe waiting longer makes getting it seems better.

and made phone calls.

we just to swap. One turn I phoned, the next it was the other person. Of
course when I talked I didn't waffle on as much as I do now....

For a number of games in the past I have acted

as link for

a snailer, who wrote or phoned me so that I could e-mail out

his news.

For some I've even printed off all the e-mails and sent them.

You might like to read the lastest deft story about the joys/hassles of
smail. I've read a few letters where people (it could be one person twice)
saying 'email only games'.

I used to play a game in US where I had to snail-mail some of
the players
and where the other player would snail mail me back. My mail
from Malaysia
takes about 2 weeks to reach the US and vice-versa.

You lucky, lucky bastard. Took me a bloody month for the old Universe II (or
was it III) ??? We just to send in orders every week just to move around
space, and then wait on a planet for a month in order to have all the turns
catch up with us (seems we would automatically mine the area when we sat
around a planet for a month). Pity if you got one of early orders wrong :frowning:

Then there

were French,
Canadian, etc players as well. I dropped the game after I
noticed that the
paranoia Malaysian Customs likes to delay the Malaysian Post
in sending me
my turn reports (which was snail-mailed) by keeping them and wondering
what are orcs, goblins and such are, which resulted in me
missing quite a
number of turns.

Hands up all your old diplomacy players who remember the funny story about
two players (germany and france ???) who telegramed 'attack on london
agreed' just when an IRA bombing blitz was taking place. Getting raided by
the police would not have impressed the neighbours

In my first me-pbm, we used the in-game messages, the GM will
forward the
snail mail players messages to me by snail-mail.

In BoTP John (the GM) will forward any letters I have to players. I think it
will wait till the turnsheets go out, but its still a nice touch. I wonder
if the old 3x5 size limit has finally bit the dust ?

thanks

No limit - although if someone wants to send a book then we reserve the
right to a small postage charge...
