RD: I confess I have not solved this riddle in-game, but if you've read
Tolkien's books, esp Silmarilion, the answer is inescapably Sauron.
* Inescapably? Sauron certainly fits the "one who would sow great
discord" line, but I don't think he fits the " ... all his power came from
the ring" line.
* Maybe the answer is ol' Muzzie's original name. After all, the first
line could be interpreted as describing the titles TINDOMUL held in
chronological order; the second line fits him as well as it does Sauron; the
(first half of the) third line would also fit them both; but the last line
would not fit the guy Gandalf didn't want to face even AFTER the Balrog
incident.
* Jim, whatever the correct (in-game) answer is, you gotta let us know as
soon as you find out !!!!
There is a BIG problem with some riddles because you don't know whether the
answer lies in some obscure Tolkien quote, say from 'Unfinished Tales,' or
from something in the ICE sourcebooks on which the GSI game is based.Richard.
* I agree. Riddles shouldn't require PhDs in Middle-earth AND Iron Crown
stuff. Also adding to the confusion is that the computer (sometimes) only
accepts a certain name (i.e. 'Aragon,' but not 'Strider,' etc.) or gets picky
over singular/plurals (i.e. 'eggs' but not 'egg').
Well, enough venting!
