sorry about that.
I automatically assumed a 2950 northmen. Tactics for playing the 1650
position is beyond me.

RD: Hey m, when I read your advice I wondered what you were on. I thought
you must be playing in the same game but on the opposite side to the poor
guy asking for advice!
Northmen in 1650 is a distinctly dodgy position. Yes, you can name emis at
40, but first you have to spend 10k for a commander to name an emi at 30
(725 order). If you're lucky this em will get a bonus, if not, you've got
4-5 turns of 520 orders before your em reaches rank 40, and ONLY THEN will
he/she be able to name other emis at 40.
The most important advice I would give any newcomer is TALK to your
team-mates. LISTEN to the more experienced players. They want to win too,
so they should help you all they can. The better your TEAM co-ordinates
strategy, the more chance you have of eventual victory. If your TEAM
doesn't win, you won't!
The second bit of advice, for Northmen, is TALK to Easterlings (send a diplo
via Harlequin on turn 0 to establish contact). If you can get the
Easterlings on your side, your chances of survival are much improved.
I was tempted to list a whole catalogue of specifics which Nor should do or
should not do, but I won't because it would take too long, and an amateur
(no offence!) game will develop differently, and very likely more
interestingly, than a veteran one.
Good luck!
Richard.
