Am I correct in assuming that even though NPCs may carry artifacts that they cannot receive artifacts from PCs? I read some reports that this type of transfer was made in previous games, so I presume that it has been changed in a game update/mod?
I’m glad somebody asked this! Recently, as an FP nation, one of my characters attempted to 360 an artifact to Throkmaw. It failed saying that the target wasn’t legal. Why is that? If we can challenge, assassinate, and recruit dragons and other NPC’s, why aren’t we allowed to transfer artifacts to them?
Clint, is there a reason for this? Though I may be delusional, I thought I had known of occasions when you could 360 artifacts to dragons?
I’m recently returned to MEPBM after a five year break. GSI instituted this programming change, if I recall, to put a stop to players playing games with artifacts like handing artfiacts to dragons to track the dragons, or handing all the good artifacts to Khudrepa, etc. That was never the intent of the game; it was using a rules loophole.
They changed the software to prevent artifacts from being transferrend to NPCs to halt this kind of abuse. I’m guessing that Middle Earth Games inherited the program from G.S.I, because this was a software change taht wasn’t in the rulebook that appears to have remained in place.
There are a few other things like this that I’ve started checking on as well.
