It is the nature of things that march states dominate core areas. An example: All those military techniques developed by the ancient Greeks, when applied to the larger canvas of Macedonia, allowed Macedonia to dominate the core area--Greece. Now the industrial, management and economic techniques developed by the UK, when applied to the larger canvas of the USA allows the US to dominate the core ares; to wit: western and central Europe. Just as many ancient Greeks grumbled about Macedonia, so Cris and others flail out about the USA.
When America establishes the Alpha Centari (or where ever) colony, within 150 years that march state will dominate America. Then the Yanks will whimper about the "Alphas" just like many Brits now seem to to about the Yanks.
