Not so sure about that old chap, probably got more to do with sexual discrimination laws -- if the mother is legally entitled to maternity leave then its only equitable that the father have the same rights.

benefits stopped and be sent back to work.

Yes, much agreed. But you see, if I was to continue to work
full time AND try and do enough with the orifice-shooter at
