Ah, another American who doesn't let facts get in the way of an argument...

More than 65% of the UK's trade is now with other EU countries. The
cross-Channel trade in alcohol and tobacco alone is worth over 4.5 billion
euros annually... (Source: European Commission)

As for joining the US... I think the Bush camp would hate that idea. After
all, the UK has a population equal to about a quarter of the US's and most
Brits would vote against him in the upcoming election! (Of course, that in
and of itself is a good argument for joining the US.)

So, yes, Ed, you are living in the past.

--Hmmm, sounds strangely like government to me...but then i`m a
cynic. The US isn`t a democracy, it`s a republic. The UK government
isn`t a democracy, it`s a private club that to this day still runs
undemocratic elections and pretends otherwise. That`s why you have to
laugh at the likes of Bliar and Bush taking their democratic crusade
to parts of the world that offend their sensibilities...

RD: allow me to finish that sentence for you: ...and own some of the
world's richest oilfields.

Love your spelling of 'Bliar!'

Richard.

I'm with ya, Mike. We had too many of those discussions in 2002. Let's stick to Orc-Elf politics if we can.
