Offensive actions against NPCs

Hi Guys

Has anybody any first hand experience from 1650 with:

  1. Stealing artifacts from NPCs

  2. Challenging them

  3. Assasinating them

I know Dragons can be challenged and killed, but some people seems to think they are not assasinatable (He - I think I just made up a new word i english :)). I know Bobbins has info on the matter, but much of this is simply not true (or may have changed). I f.ex. tried the army encounter with Galadriel and all she did was giving my attached mage a lame spell

I have also heard Gandalf is killable and can be stealed from, but what about Sauron ? (and will killed NPCs like Gandalf and Sauron reform)

Please also state if you tried this as FP, DS or Neutral.

I once stole Gandalfs big mage arty as a FP. In fact it was only an A50  But later on I’ve tried being killed trying with an A60.
So basically it’s possible to do, but there are dices to roll…

The Lady Gladriel kills agents who fail to steal from her. That includes FP.

If it has an artifact number or a 5 digit character id, all those orders who require those pieces of information are valid. Dragon Killing is a common Free People strategy. Stealing artifacts is more of an opportunistic thing…unless you have reason to believe Itangast ate your RoW agent…then you might want to combine methods…

Hej Ulrik

Did Gandalf come looking for his ring as Bobbins states ?

  • Jeppe

Nope.
After I took I saw nothing of Gandalf.

Ulrik

And for how many turns did you hold on to his ring ?

Could it be that the DS in that game had killed Gandalf after you stole his ring and that is the reason he didn’t come after you ? (or did you see him afterwards on pops ?)

This happened many years ago, but as it was as the game came close to its end the DS have most likely not killed him, as they had plenty of other things to do.
Don’t remember any more details and don’t have the pdfs.

I stole Gandalfs ring once in 2950 with a 45 to 50ish agent also. I never saw him again except on my pop center reports so not sure if he was following Saruman around or not. Saruman had 197 challenge rank with that ring and a few other arties when Storlaga who thought he was king of the block decided to challenge Saruman to a duel after Saruman had challenged Ji Indur and gotten refused. I dont think the DS had any clue they were gonna lose that fight and heck if Ji Indur couldnt fight, well who was I to say no to Storlaga :). Was nice upping my challenge to 228 with a 30 neut mage artie, but sucked having to carry around a 35 evil mage arty and a 2000 combat evil artie but o well whats a wizard to do

In game 97 (8 years ago under GSI game 97 hehe)

I assassinated Galadriel, just happened to be in the same hex as Din O and Lom, so I transferred Lom’s artifact to Din… gave him like a 120-130 agent rank or something at the time.
