One Banker nation

Hi

Are you actually suggesting that ME should let the present games play
out before applying the new rules? I do assume that ME is not running
several servers or want to run 2 different types of 1650 standard games.
Of course the rules should be changed immediately or we all have to
wait. Also for those of us playing several games at a time it will be
somewhat difficult but not impossible to keep track of the different
rules applying. Just look at it as a 5th season....

Cheers
Lars

聽聽Clint,
聽聽You *are* penalizing teams that have taken this route. It was
not against the rules at the time it was implemented. You can't put
toothpaste back in the tube; at the very least, let the current games
play out to see what comes to pass. Rules should not be changed in the
middle of a game -- not just MEPBM, any game -- and any rule, not just
the OBN ploy.

聽聽No - that's why we're not penalising nations that have already
done it.

You are damn straight; that is exactly what I am suggesting.

聽聽Games have rules. Rules should not be changed in the middle of a game. Is this fixing a programming "bug", or is it a rules change?
聽聽聽
聽聽The rules state a character can move up to 12 hexes. Moving with a company then a phantom MovJ to get 24 hexes, now that's a bug. However, the rules do not address what is a "fair" level of market prices. Implementing controls regulating gold shipments is clearly a rules change, not a bug fix. All rules changes should be for new games only, not current games.

聽聽I'll not waste much more time on this issue, since Clint has gone on record stated his belief the OBN phenomenon is a bug. It's certainly not a bug. An "exploit" perhaps...

It's an un-designed part of the program. If Bill had seen this he would have corrected it as being a bug (as would, and will, I). That's what a bug is. The program was designed to work one way, it's not working that way so that's a bug in my dictionary.
