Earth is slowly healing under the compassionate and capable hands of
King Elessar and King Eomer. Frodo, Elrond, Galadriel, Gandalf, and
many others have left for the eternal rest of the West, but peace is
not to last. Three enclaves of evil will soon come together to form
an alliance of power which will destroy on a scale unlike any of
their predecessors

Orc raids have returned to terrorize the countryside, renting the
wounds that had just begun to heal. A council was called to address
this latest threat but during the proceedings last of the Ring
Bearers, Samwise Gamgee, and Queen Arwen herself are kidnapped under
the very noses of the Council. The culprit? A twisted former
prodigy of Sauron's named Gortheb. Imprisoned by the ring of power
due to a history of betrayal his bonds were released with the
destruction of the ring. Using the conveniently empty lands of the
Dark Lord He has now set his eyes on the weary lands of middle earth;
and aided by the Eryae'Mori (Dark Walkers) his agenda bears one
sinister goal: The annihilation of that which is beautiful.
In the south the broken Easterling tribes of Rhûn fought to recover
the strength and power they possessed under their god of war. The
bitter defeat at the hands of the West had sent them reeling towards
oblivion. But during this time of chaos, a mysterious agent of Sauron
has managed to reunite a significant number of Easterling tribes;
giving rise to the Wainrider Confederacy. When coupled with the
emergence of the power known as Gortheb the agents work has sparked a
revival of Sauron's cult: the Crimson Order. They believe Gortheb to
be the incarnation of Sauron himself. A small expeditionary force has
been sent to Middle Earth, to determine the truth of Sauron's fate. A
truth that could ignite all the East, and lead to a bitter contest to
control all the lands of Middle Earth.
Another, heretofore unknown cult of Sauron has also struggled in the
wake of the Dark Lord's demise. The former masters of balrog and orc,
the Khazad Baraz (Red Dwarves). For decades they served as Sauron's
mountain masters, controlling the foul creatures of Moria and
receiving what support was needed for their survival and pursuit of
mineral wealth. When their means of survival was destroyed, they
could do little but seethe and wait for an opportunity to exact
vengeance on the pretty folk that ruined their way of life. That
opportunity came when a small band of Wainriders followed a few
wounded elves into the golden trees of Lothlorien
