Order 275 ScttShp HELP?!?

without even glancing at my rules, I've never issued the order either, but would you
not have to be the Navy Commander who is in command of those ships to thusly
scuttle them? Army commander in same hex would not do it. Pick Up ships one turn,
scuttle them the next.

Anyone stand to correct me?

To all:

Twice I have issued the following order (as written) and both times
the order has failed:

275 ScttShp Comm 6 4

Here's the scoop: I have 6 warships and 4 transports at a harbor in a
major town. My commander is level 53 - though that shouldn't matter
right?

My economy is in a world of hurt, so I need to dump these boats! So,
any assistance anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. Basically,
this is a matter of me economically surviving the next few turns.

On both occassions this is the response I received on my turnsheet.

She was ordered to scuttle some ships. The transports scuttled was
changed because insufficient transports. The warships scuttled was
changed because of insufficient warships. No ships were scuttled.

Have I messed up the "order" of the numbers (no pun intended).
According to the rule book - I think I have to list the warships
first, then the transports.

Am I right / wrong? Anyone?

By the way, I am not revealing my nation or the game number, so don't
ask! I am already drowning in debt, I don't need a thousand agents
and armies visiting my pop centers to help me out!

Hapless...

Pretty much. Must be Army or Navy commander. however 280 lets a character in your
capital release your ships, i.e. they will be destroyed permanently.

Alright... I think I have it now!

Let me get this right - the orders should go like this:

Naval commander issues

794 AnchShp or
850 MovArmy

basically this anchors the ships at there location (harbor/MT).

Capital commander issues

280 AbanShp - don't forget location and number of ships!

And my problems are solved. The only problem is two more turns
before I see the results! My economy may not make it.

That's your problem right there. YOu can only scuttle (275) or abandon
(280) ships that are not currently assigned to a navy. You have to turn
her navy into an army; this can be done by moving the army inland or
using the Anchor Ships order - both of which, sadly, come after 280 and
production. So you might be skunked for this turn.

Oh, and blow the harbor too; it also costs money and just allows South
Gondor to attack you.

What is 280? How does it work?

You can order ships abandoned from your capital; only problem is they
still have to be anchored, and yours are still with a navy.

You might want to ask if your allies can send you sone gold to tide you
over...
