Orome

The question (paraphrased):

What is Orome's Battlefield?

As mentioned earlier. The answer is in the Companion.
You just need to look in the right place!

Except there is no clear battlefield where Orome fought mentioned at
all in the Silmarillion. He chased Morgoth's beings all over Middle-
Earth and Beleriand, he chased Melkor himself in Aman and Valinor.
But nowhere is there anything which stands out beyond "forests".

Look in the Companion. The description of Orome gives
the needed hint.

I take riddle solving very
serious, afterall it could mean the difference between a +40 artifact
or CHAR death.

Gary

p.s. the guide to Middle Earth has solved more than one riddle for me!

See if you can work this one out then, cos it means bugger all to me!

Tricky hiding place to have to look...

Is the Companion the same as "A guide to Middle Earth" by Robert
Foster?

There is a list somewhere out waiting to be found of several WRONG
answers...

Forest is one of them.

CLUE: as with any riddle research not only the subject but those
items or things the subject is known to have done/had etc.

p.s. I find nothing in the guide with 2As 2Os and 3Ns...so maybe we

It might be. But, I'm not sure. I've had it for a
bunch of years. Got the Companion, Lost Tales book
and the Silmarilian back in the early 80's.

Companion is DIFFERENT from Guide. Both are good, but the Companion
(IMO) is a touch better. AIR, Companion is way OOP and impossible to
find. I =think= I have two copies... I know when GSI was running
this, there was some chatter about making a copy a "roving trophy"
that would go to game winner to game winner...

No, they are two different books. I've used Foster's "Guide" for years and only recently bought the "Companion" because ME is like a drug to me and if anything is published about it, I MUST have it!

Richard,

Then I bet you have Tolkien: a look behind the "Lord of the Rings" by

It is an interesting book, but not very friendly for research into
riddles.

I will keep my eyes open for the Companion as it sounds like a must

I must confess it is hard reading at times...

Here is the back panel...

"This survey of Tolkieniana is filled with the kind of information to
gladden a hobbit fancier's heart...it delves into Professor Tolkien's
life, the inspiration and soures of The Lord of the Rings, and
examines the genre of fantasy romance in general..."

Enjoy this quest...maybe eBay
