(OT) Arwen?

RD: Arwen took on not only her role, but that of Glorfindel's brief but
important appearance. Possible reasons:

1) They couldn't afford another actor to play Glorfindel for such a brief
role
2) No decent actor would play Glorfindel for such a brief role
3) The actress playing Arwen said, "If you think I'm gonna play a bimbo to
Aragorn, you can think again. Gimme an action part or I quit."

Richard.

I think it was Glorfindel, in drag, calling himself Arwen to keep up his disguise. My reasoning, the book must be correct. The movie must be correct except when it disagrees with the book. It never clearly states what Glorfindel is wearing (Except that it has a cloak and is sort of glowing). Book never says Glorfindel doesn't like to dress up like Arwen when he rides around in the countryside. I think they just left out the line where Aragorn says "This is Glorfindel, who lives in the house of Elrond." Really makes you wonder about those scenes where he kisses Aragorn....

Winn,

You might be onto something here. Maybe - er - alternative
lifestyles are the norm among the elves. It would go a long way
toward explaining why a race of immortals hadn't multiplied to the
point of overrunning the earth in the thousands of years of their
existence. And, girlish looks notwithstanding, don't you think
Galadriel acted rather butch in the books?
