On the Elven cloak business: City boys may have a hard time believing this
several times I have lain still in the grass (sans cloak or gilly suit) and
had pronghorn antelope walk right by me at ranges of ten to thirty yards.
I may be a city boy, but I've been hunting since I was 10. I've done pronghorn hunting in Wyoning and Colorado. They never get nearly that close to me as their sense of smell is far to great and I could never lie still for hours on end. Better to reach out and tag them from 300 yards with a custom load 7mm.
Finally, it is a lot easier to hide in grass as color-blind animals wander 10+ yards off. It is another thing to be under a cloak, in an open field of gravel, less than a pace from men that know you are there.
This is the only scene where the cloaks do anything but look like just ordinary cloaks. It seemed very out of place, and very "Harry Potter".
